This patch only changes the API, not the implementation of the
devPrivates infrastructure. This will permit a new devPrivates
implementation to be layed into the server without requiring
simultaneous changes in every devPrivates user.

Commit eb9210097e removed the
sidget/sidput calls which were the major reason for using the
callbacks. The remaining operations can be skipped or worked
around.

This will allow separate controls over pointer and keyboard without having
to relabel the devices to separate types.
